Policy for the preservation of archives
Mercados y Negocios assigns a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to articles published in the journal. For digital preservation, articles will be archived in LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), thus guaranteeing the journal a permanent and secure archive.
According to Mercados y Negocios, the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) is permitted solely as a writing support tool to improve the readability and language of a manuscript. However, AI may not replace human authorship or be listed as an author or co-author. Authors must explicitly disclose any use of AI tools when submitting their manuscript, specifying the tool used and its purpose, and they remain fully responsible for the content published. The journal also notes that AI-generated outputs may contain errors, biases, or incomplete information; therefore, all such content must be carefully reviewed and edited under human supervision.
As an additional restriction, Mercados y Negocios currently prohibits reviewers and editors from using generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT or similar applications, during the peer-review and manuscript evaluation processes. This policy is intended to protect the confidentiality of submitted research and safeguard authors’ rights. Failure to comply with the journal’s disclosure and transparency requirements regarding the use of AI may result in the immediate removal of the manuscript from the evaluation process.
